Internet giant YouTube has reportedly cancelled PewDiePie reality show following his anti-semitic joke. This is a shocking development and millions of PewDiePie fans across the world are feeling heartbroken.
In a major drawback for the artist from Sweden, Youtube not just dropped his reality show, but also removed the famed star from its premium advertising program. The actor was sacked following vlogger’s joke that contained an obvious anti-Semitic slogan as well.
This is not the only shock for the artist who has a tech background. Earlier, Disney’s Maker Studios announced that it was done with him and that the company was terminating its association with him.
27-year old old artist whose real name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg is a renowned internet comedian and video producer. His Let’s Play commentaries and vlogs are huge hits on YouTube.
He doesn’t posses any acting or production degrees. Instead he has degree in industrial economics and technology management from Chalmers University of Technology. In 2010, during his time at the university, he registered a YouTube account under the name PewDiePie. In the last less than seven years, since he launched the youtube channel, he has gained fame and earned millions of dollars from his Youtube association.
Reports suggest that in January this year, PewDiePie, YouTube’s most-subscribed channel with more than 53 million followers, posted several videos detailing a stunt in which he paid two shirtless Indian men to make a video holding up a sign that said “Death to All Jews.”
Later he tried his best to explain and said that he didn’t intend to convey any anti-semitic message. He said that he wanted to criticise the absurdity of an internet service that enables someone to say or do something so outrageous for just $5.
