Las Vegas: Rolando Cardenas is accused of opening fire on fellow passengers on a bus in Las Vegas Strip. Police officials have confirmed that the mindless shooting on the fellow passengers was without any reason, killing a person and injuring another person.
While initially the identity of the perpetrator was not revealed, later he was recognized as Rolando Cardenas, a 55-year-old man. The shooting happened on the Las Vegas Strip for really no reason.
The tensed stand-off that followed the shooting and the killing continued for several hours. Later the killer was arrested and recognized as Rolando Cardenas.
Eyewitnesses claim that the killer, armed with powerful gun, stood up and opened fire from the back of the bus as passengers were disembarking near the Cosmopolitan hotel-casino, police said. He fired several rounds from a handgun, according to police. Gary Breitling, 57, of Sidney, Montana, was killed in the shooting. An unidentified man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Reports suggest that initially the gunman barricaded himself on the bus. An AP report claims that during the negotiations that lasted for hours, a SWAT team drove an armored vehicle up to the bus.
While talking about the unfortunate incident, Clark County Assistant Sheriff Tom Roberts said “He was on the bus. He was shooting people on the bus. He was just contained to that location. He never exited the bus”.
