An exchange of gunfire between police officers and a robbery suspect has been saved on a camera. The video of the shooting that is going viral right now shows a man exchanging gunfire with police officers before being fatally wounded. He was later pronounced dead. A police officer also sustained gunshot wounds in the process, Baltimore County Public Safety Twitter page said.
A report by the Baltimore Sun said that a female officer who sustained injuries in the exchange of gunfire between police and the robbery suspect was in serious condition. Officials claims they were actually responding to reports of an armed robbery in the area at around 3 p.m on June 7.
Officials claimed that they received a call about a man attempting to rob two people outside the Logan Village Shopping Center, Officer Jen Peach said. The suspect boarded a Maryland Transit Administration bus. The bus traveled a short distance down Dundalk Avenue toward Belclare Road before it was stopped by police officers. The suspect fired from the bus at police officers, police said, and officers returned fire. The suspect ran from the bus and died at the scene, police said.
The video clearly shows the robbery suspect leaning out of the bus and firing at the police. Later, he can be seen running out of the bus and kneel behind a white van across the street. A woman can be seen running away from the van while there is another person behind it. The video ends with screaming, the camera pointed downwards and the sound of gunfire. It was posted on Facebook by a Baltimore man who goes by the moniker Steve Outlaw.
“When the police responded out here, they were able to locate the MTA bus that they thought was involved. They stopped the MTA bus and they engaged the suspect. At some point during that engagement, the suspect fired shots at the officers. The officers then returned fire and shot the suspect. One officer was shot in that altercation. The suspect was shot and he is now deceased,” Baltimore County police Officer Jennifer Peach said.
