Elmwood Park, Illinois, gas station shooting incident that was caught on camera has been released by authorities. The video has gone viral since then with a large number of people trying to watch the video.
The shooting incident that caused the death of a man was caught on surveillance camera. Elmwood Park Police Department has released the footage that shows the exchange of the fire and the entire sequence of events.
Authorities said that 43-year old Chicago resident, Ronald Morales, lost his life in the April 8 shooting at a BP gas station. In a very surprising move, the authorities have not charged the other shooter, who actually killed Morales. Authorities claim that the unnamed shooter acted in self defence and so he cannot be charged.
While giving the details about April 8 shooting, Elmwood Park Police said in a press release that the man who died “made eye contact” with a man who was pumping gas. The infuriated Morales, according to police, took a gun from his car while the man pumping gas got into the driver’s seat of his car. Police said that man saw Morales coming to him and felt he was in danger, so he armed himself with his own gun.
The video shows Morales threatening the other person and opening the gate of his car. The footage shows both the men firing over the top of the car. A woman driving an SUV can be seen ducking down in her seat as she tries to drive away. It transpired that Morales got injured and died nearby, while the other shooter left the place in his vehicle. Police have praised the state of the art surveillance camera installed by the gas station owners. “The gas station has a state-of-the-art camera system that provided us with excellent video footage allowing us to quickly get to the truth in this case”, police statement said.
