Uttar Pradesh exit poll results 2017 – Urdu daily Inquilab predicts majority for SP-Congress alliance

ViewsHeadlines Desk,

Lucknow: Urdu newspapers are predicting massive win for Samajwadi Party – Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh. The counting for votes in the state is set to be held tomorrow, March 11.

Leading Urdu daily Inquilab, in an exit poll conducted through thousands of readers’ responses has said that there is powerful undercurrent going in favour of Akhilesh Yadav led alliance in the state. It is probably the only survey that claims that the ruling party, that allied with the Congress party, is expected to romp home and form the next government in the state.

The survey said Akhilesh Yadav is the first choice of the state’s electorate. It said that 68 percent voters in the state want him to return victorious and form the next government in the state. According to Inquilab exit poll, Mayawati is the second choice for UP voters with thirty percent people supporting her.

The exit poll is based on views collected from Muslim voters spread across the most populous state in the country.

It must be kept in mind that the final phase of UP Election ended two days ago.

In the last phase of election, the BJP gave it all in the poll, deploying Prime Minister Narendra Modi for full three days in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.

The competition was fierce in the last day of campaigning, with BJP, SP and Congress giving it their best shot. The major representative of the parties showed their presence in consecutive rallies throughout the final phase and they also met voters personally.

In the last phase of election, the maximum number of candidates were competing from Varanasi Cantt. The number of candidates from the constituency was 24. On the contrary, only six candidates were competing for Kirakat, Jaunpur. In the last Assembly Elections, these forty seats were distributed among SP (23), BSP (5), BJP (4) and Congress (3). The remaining seats were taken up by Apna Dal and Qaumi Ittehad, and three independent candidates.

Another reason for the last phase of polling to be the centre of attention of all was due to the fact that it includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary area. Out of the 8 seats of Varanasi, 3 are occupied by BJP candidates, two each by SP and BSP and one by Congress.

Most other surveys are predicting huge win for the BJP in UP, while a few others are predicting hung parliament with BJP emerging as single largest party.
