Trump Muslim ban – Federal judge James Robart blocks Trump’s visa ban

Viewsheadlines Desk,

Washington: Donald Trump is not unstoppable at all as many people had started thinking immediately after his taking over and a spate of executive order banning Muslims’ entry in US and construction of Mexico wall. He was signing more executive order with enormous implication in future than any other president in the past.

Reports suggest that following the controversial executive order banning Muslims from 7 nations and increased vetting for other Muslim nations as many as a hundred thousand visas have been revoked by the US authorities. This has divided families, with people who went outside the US on business or family trip unable to return back to the US.

Nonetheless, now a federal judge in Washington State, James Robart, has temporarily blocked enforcement of Trump’s highly controversial ban on entry to the United States. Reports suggest that officials are working overtime to allow those previously affected to travel.

While some injunctions were issued on the Muslim ban, those were very local or vague in nature. This is the first order that impacts almost everyone affected by Donald Trump visa ban.

The Judge, James Robart’s order forced the officials to immediately communicate with airlines. This is notwithstanding the fact that White House said in a statement the Justice Department would “at the earliest possible time” file for an emergency stay of the “outrageous” ruling from the judge. The next statement issued a short time later didn’t contain the word “outrageous.”

Not people are amused by such strong words being used by new White House team. Trump leads his team in using such or even stronger word. It was in display during his calls to different world leaders including the Australian Prime Minister.

The White House statement said, “The president’s order is intended to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people”. Robert wrote that “fundamental” to the court’s work was “a vigilant recognition that it is but one of three equal branches of our federal government.”

The judge James Robart went on to add, “The court concludes that the circumstances brought before it today are such that it must intervene to fulfill its constitutional role in our tripart government”.

The order has brought cheers to millions of people who have been protesting against the visa ban. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson hailed the case as “the first of its kind” and declared that it “shuts down the executive order immediately.” Robart, a judge appointed by George W. Bush, said in written order that U.S. officials should stop enforcing the key aspects of the ban: the halting of entry by refugees and citizens from certain countries. He did not specifically address the matter of those whose visas already had been revoked. The Justice Department said in a statement that it was “reviewing the court’s order and will determine next steps.”

The order will allow the stranded people unable to enter the US to finally reach home. A State Department official said the agency was “working closely with the Department of Homeland Security and our legal teams to determine how this affects our operations.” “We will announce any changes affecting travelers to the United States as soon as that information is available,” the official said.
