Islamabad: This is the toughest Pakistani response in history against US for visa delay for Pakistan’s Deputy Chairman of Senate Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Pakistanis are overjoyed by the response.
There was undue delay in issuing visa for Deputy Chairman of Pakistani Senate, Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri. This infuriated Pakistani officials so much that they cancelled the entire planned visit of senators to the US.
Pakistani officials have also said that they will not reschedule the visit until US officials give a detailed explanation as to why there was delay in the issuance of visa to Deputy Chairman Senate, Haideri.
In the meantime Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani told the media that no Senate delegation will go to United States until an explanation for the delay in visa issuance is given.
Rabbani told the media “No delegation, member of Congress or diplomat of the U.S. will be welcomed by the Senate of Pakistan, the Senate standing committees and senators in their official capacity till this issue is resolved.” U.
Meanwhile many Pakistanis have expressed over-joy over the development. Pasban-e-Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor welcoming the decision said that this brave decision was taken in accordance with the national honour and aspirations of Pakistanis. He said the other members of Pakistan’s assemblies and senate should follow suit. He appealed to the senate chairman to also take notice of the issue of prolonged detention of the nation’s daughter, Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He asked the chairman to persuade the sitting government to take appropriate steps for her early repatriation.
Shakoor went on to add that Rabbani had sought an explanation from the US administration regarding the inordinate delay in issuing visas to the delegation and announced the cancellation of the visit until this explanation was received.
