Summer Church, Jace Swinton and Roberto Ortiz have been charged with murder in the death of mixed martial art fighter in Palm Beach County, Florida. The death of the fighter looked like a mystery of sorts before the latest arrest in this July murder.
MMA fighter Aaron Rajman was murdered in his Boca Raton home when he was shot dead while armed men robbed his home.
Now three teenagers including a 16-year old white girl Summer Church have been arrested for the murder of 25-year old Aaron Rajman. The other two people who have been charged in the murder include Jace Swinton, 18, and Roberto Ortiz, 18.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says that the three are facing multiple felonies including first-degree murder, after they were arrested Friday. At the time of her arrest, the 16-year old girl was being driven to her school by her mother.
Professional MMA fighter Rajman, a member of American Top Team (ATT) gym, which also hosts UFC stars such as Amanda Nunes and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, was at his house on July 3 when “several” men entered. He argued with the group and at least one shot was fired at him before the men fled the scene, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The 25-year old professionl MMA fighter was a devout Orthodox Jew who spoke about his beliefs frequently and even taught kids at a Jewish community school for several years.
His death was mourned by MMA celebrities, many of whom posted tributes to Rajman on social media. Tecia Torres while paying tribute on Instagram said, “R.I.P @aaronrajman A beautiful soul was taken too soon. Today I have a heavy heart with the passing of my friend. I remember when Aaron went out to NC with me and was my only corner at the end of my amateur career. Shortly after I fought on one of his own mma shows and become the #1 amateur fighter at 115. Thank you Aaron for sharing those special moments. I hope this weekend to make you smile and get the W for you. Miss you bud”.
A report in the Palm Beach Post says that the 16-year old girl was dating Swinton at the time they are alleged to have taken part in the robbery and murder. Church’s mother told the newspaper that her daughter had become acquainted with Rajman after they met at a convenience store in Boca Raton in January. Judith Church told the Post that Swinton had also met Rajman and had been to his house.
Church was not just an accomplice, but is said to be the mastermind behind the robbery attempt that led to murder. Judith Church, the girl’s mother, told WPBF-TV. Judi Church says her daughter has cooperated with police and was forced to be involved. She said her daughter was not at the house when the robbery and shooting occurred. “I told detectives, I said this out loud: ‘she’s not that smart.’ They said, ‘oh yes, she is, we think she’s the mastermind behind it,’” Judith Church told the news station.
