Shanghai terror attack was just an accident: Watch VIDEO

ViewsHeadlines Desk,

A van in Shanghai that rammed into pedestrians on February 1 not a terror attack, but merely an accident. This assertion was made by Shanghai police officers.

Ever since the accident happened, there were reports going viral that it was a terrorist attack exactly on similar lines as 2017 Stockholm truck ramming attack, London Bridge terrorist attack or many similar attacks around the world that we have frequently witnessed.

Latest reports suggest that the van that rammed into a budy thoroughfare injured at least 18 people. As soon as the news flashed on media around the world, the first thought that came to people’s minds was that it must be a terrorist attack. A number of people on social media started speculating on similar lines as well as those people in news rooms across the world.

Thankfully, the administration scotched all such rumors. Police in Shanghai asserted that the van accident was just an accident and the driver lost the control over the vehicle, causing injuries to around one and half dozen people.

A footage of the accident that went viral on social media showed a horrific scene of bodies strewn along a sidewalk. Be aware that some of the videos and photos from the scene, which you can see below, are graphic and disturbing.

A report in the People’s Daily China says “A car plowed into pedestrians in downtown Shanghai Friday morning, leaving 18 hospitalized, 3 of them severely injured, local authorities say. Cause is still under investigation”. Another report said, “The van mounted the sidewalk at a busy intersection in downtown Shanghai around 9 a.m., knocking down pedestrians”. Nonetheless, later the local authorities confirmed that it was a road accident and had nothing to do with terrorism.

A report in the ABC says, “The Shanghai-based news outlet Pengpai, citing a witness, reported that the vehicle was carrying six people and several tanks of gas when it caught fire and crashed through a sidewalk railing. Several pedestrians rushed to break the car window to pull out the apparently unconsciously driver, the witness told the Shanghai outlet…While indications showed the crash was an accident, vehicle driven terrorist attacks have killed scores globally in recent years”
