Los Angeles: Many people are addicted to different things. Someone may be addicted to drug or alcohol, while others may get addicted to social media that also sends people on a ‘high’ these days.
Selena Gomez, the 24-year old singer and actress, has said in an interview with Vogue that she is addicted to Instagram. Gomez is one of the most popular figures on social media and has millions of fans on almost all social media sites.
But apparently her Instagram addiction went several notches higher than many people who are hooked to different social media platforms. The diva told the world that her addiction of Instagram took such a serious turn that she had to cancel her world tour last year and instead went to therapy.
The actress went on to add that she sought the help of professional therapy as under severe depression thinking “my self-esteem was shot.” A report in E! ONline says that her Revival world tour was expected to be monetarily very profitable. But it was cancelled without giving a reason.
The diva told Vogue, “My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage or right after leaving the stage. Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable. I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it — which, I think, was a complete distortion”.
Gomez has faced numerous challenges in her professional life. In 2014, she fired her parents as her managers and signed with the WME and Brillstein companies. During this time, she signed a new recording contract with Interscope Records, releasing a compilation album as her fifth and final release through Hollywood Records. Her previous tours have also been cancelled. Selena Gomes net worth right now is around $45 million.
