Palakkad: Being in power makes one rude, and you can expect much more from people who are running the country now. The way, the people in power and their parent organization are flouting every norm in the country doesn’t really augur well for the future of our nation.
Kerala is one place, where RSS’ all efforts to penetrate have remained unsuccessful thus far. This is notwithstanding the persistent efforts of the saffron organization to get a toehold in the state. Despite all efforts to win over the upper caste Hindu votes in ‘God’s own country’, all its efforts have proved futile.
In an incident that shows the increased belligerent behavior and disregard of the law, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat not just ignored the order of the District Magistrate in Kerala’s Palakkad district where he had planned to hoist the tricolor, but actually went and hoisted the tricolor.
Palakkad district collector Mary Kutty, on Monday night had asked the headmaster of Karnakiamman Higher Secondary School not to let RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat hoist tricolor in the school on the occasion of Independence Day. He said it was not proper for a political leader to hoist the national flag in a government-aided school.
But despite the clear order from the District Magistrate,Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS chief went onto hoist the tri colour on Independence Day.
Now it has been learnt that Palakkad district collector Mary Kutty has directed the police to register a case against the head master of Karnakiamman Higher Secondary School, who didn’t heed the DM’s order. Nonetheless, it is not yet known if the DM has ordered any action against Mohan Bhagwat, one of the most powerful people in the country as he heads the BJP’s parent organization.
Political leaders have attacked the RSS leader for flouting the rule and going against the directive of the administration. Kerala’s culture Minister A K Balan attacked Bhagwat for “insulting the national flag”, adding that the government will explore legal options against the school and the saffron outfit.
“The RSS chief has insulted the national flag. Though he was restrained from hoisting the flag in a government-aided school, he went ahead with the plan, flouting all norms. It shows the organisation’s attitude towards existing laws,” he said.
