Randy Bachman’s concert that was all set to begin at Artpark Mainstage Theater in the Village of Lewiston has been evacuated. New York State Parks Police while confirming the report of evacuation said that bomb-sniffing dog smelled bomb-making ingredients. The news has shocked Randy Bachman fans.
Till now there are no reports whether any kind of explosive material or bomb making ingredients were actually found on the site of the concert or not.
A Buffalo News report said that the status of the concert will be decided after the extensive search comes to an end.
A tweet from the newspaper said, “Artpark has been evacuated after a bomb-sniffing dog reportedly caught the scent of dangerous materials near the stage. Concert status TBD”. 72-year old Randolph Charles “Randy” Bachman is a Canadian musician best known as lead guitarist, songwriter and a founding member of the 1960s and 1970s rock bands The Guess Who and Bachman–Turner Overdrive. Bachman was also a member of Brave Belt with Chad Allan, Union and Ironhorse, and has recorded numerous solo albums.
He is still very popular among his fan following across North America. Bachman tours with his own band, the Randy Bachman Band, and the Bachman-Cummings Band. He has also created a popular theatre show called “Every Song Tells A Story”, featuring Bachman live and unplugged with his band, telling the stories behind the writing of his famous hits from the 1960s and 1970s. Bachman and Burton Cummings toured throughout Canada as Bachman & Cummings in the summer of 2006 with Toronto, Ontario’s The Carpet Frogs. Bachman has also released an album of original melodic jazz songs called Jazz Thing.
The venue was evacuated around 5:30 p.m. according to witnesses. The concert was scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. So far no update on the situation. Artpart Mainstage Theater provides seating for up to 2,400 people, according to Artpark’s website. Randy Bachman and Denise McCann met at a Christmas fundraiser concert and they married in 1982. She became a Canadian citizen in 1989. Bachman and McCann separated in 2011. Prior to their separation, McCann was heard on CBC Radio as a contributor to Bachman’s program Vinyl Tap.
