Bhubaneswar: BJP’s headquarters seems to have shifted to Bhubaneswar for all the practical purposes. The ruling part in India in a show of strength in preparation of the forthcoming assembly elections in the state is organizing a massive road show presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is not just the BJP office that seems to have shifted to the city in Odisha. The seat of the government also seems to be in the town at least today. It is not just Prime Minister Modi who will be there. As many as 40 Union ministers and 13 chief ministers belonging to the ruling party in New Delhi will be part of the two-day national executive meet of BJP in Bhubaneswar.
BJP is planning to beat the ruling Biju Janta Dal in the state in the next assembly elections and going by its performance in the civic polls, the party is now officially number two in Odisha.
If there was some doubt in the minds of people, it was removed when Union minister Venkaiah Naidu said that the BJP will try to win assembly elections in the state and form the government. “We will try to come to power in Odisha in 2019 (when assembly poll is due)” said he.
He further said, “The BJP has come to the second position in Bengal while CPM has been pushed to the third. The party is growing under the leadership of Narendra Modi and results of recent elections in several states had gone in our favour…People want Modi as their prime minister in 2019 also. The people across the country have faith in the Modi government for its pro-poor schemes and policies … All efforts were being made to reach benefits to the people across the country,” he said.
