Washington DC: After more than a month in office President Donald Trump will address a joint session of Congress. Political observers are wondering as to what Trump, who has emerged as the most divisive President in the history of the United States, will say in his address.
While, it is officially not as the State of the Union address, it is without doubt as important as the State of the Union address.
There is no denying that President Trump is more at ease delivering ‘election speeches’ in front of Republican supporters, this will be the first time that the former reality star, will be speaking in front of Congress members.
The President, who has been on an executive signing spree, will start his speech at about 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. White House’s Twitter channel will be live streaming the entire address.
While the Trump administration is not calling today’s speech as State of the Union address, it has as much significance as any State of the Union address. This is because of the fact that due to his anti-migrant drive, the entire country is in the clutch of confusion. While Muslim ban has been stalled with the help of the judiciary, every effort is being made to deny their entry in the US. The latest example is the way Mohammad Ali Jr was interrogated by officials while returning from abroad. The questions were mostly concerning regarding his Muslim faith.
If reports are to be believed, Trump is expected to delve on a host of issues ranging from immigration to healthcare, Middle East, industry and much more. According to this memo, the president will talk about the promises he has kept while in office, his vision to unite the country, his desire to represent the nation’s “forgotten men and women,” the steps he will take to make the American dream possible for all people, and his intent to pass tax and regulatory reform, to make the workplace better for working parents, to repeal and replace Obamacare, to ensure every child has a good education, to rebuild the military, and to take care of U.S. veterans.
