Hyderabad: It is being alleged that police officials have been harassing animal traders on the occasion of Bakrid (Eid-al-Adha). Reports suggest that the police have been impounding animals meant for slaughter during the Eid.
Eid-al-Adha or Bakrid will be celebrated on September 13. It is being alleged that the police officials are impounding animals whose slaughter is actually allowed in the state of Telangana.
While cow slaughter is banned in the state, bulls, bullocks can be killed against “fit-for-slaughter” certificate. Nonetheless most people here prefer to slaughter sheep.
Now Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen is trying to recover those animals that were illegally impounded by officials in the Greater Hyderabad area. MLA Syed Ahmad Pasha Qadri, who is a confidante of the MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that the animals impounded by the police in Chalkalghora have been released following their representation to the police officials. He said sixty such animals were released by the officials.
It should be kept in mind that the police seem to be behaving as a sister organization of the saffron organizations. Police is meant to maintain peace and ensure law and order, nonetheless it is impounding even those animals whose slaughter is legit across the state.
