Pokémon GO Gen 2 has finally been released and the social media seems to be on fire. It is the most talked about and discussed game on social media since its launch and the response has been so great that its developer’s site continued to periodically go down due to unusually heavy traffic.

The new Pokémon GO Gen 2 comes with massive improvement over the previous version and it will ensure that the thirst of the people doesn’t go down as the game readies to celebrate its first year since its launch.

It is not even a year since being introduced on Android and iOS smartphones and the game had crossed half a billion downloads before the beginning of the year 2017. There must be at least a hundred million more downloads since them. As the new version arrives, the enthusiasm will further go up and will have many new converts in the days to come.

The developer of the popular game, Niantic, have reportedly added multiple features and items such as berries, character customization, evolution items besides a new user interface when catching Pokemon, and a whole lot more.

In an official post, Niantic said, “Trainers, Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.57.2 for Android and 1.27.2 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team…Over 80 additional Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region can be caught. Gender-specific variations of select Pokémon can be caught. Added new encounter mechanics. Added Poké Ball and Berry selection carousels to the encounter screen. Added two new Berries.”

“Added new avatar outfit and accessory options. Added new night-mode map and encounter music. Added bonus Candies for catching Evolved Pokémon. Implemented Apple Watch connection stability improvement. Various bug fixes. Minor text fixes”, the developers further say.

John Hanke, founder and Chief Executive Officer, Niantic while launching the update said, “Today is a momentous occasion for our team here at Niantic which has been hard at work to deliver these additional Pokémon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for our passionate global community of Trainers playing Pokémon GO…Pokémon GO is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokémon to discover and much more.”

In the meantime as of now as many as five evolutionary items have been included in the Generation 2 Pokémon Go update. These evolutionary items include Sun Stone, King’s Rock, Dragon Scale, Upgrade, Metal Coat. The developers have made it very clear that the trainers need to combine them with the correct amount of candy to evolve them. Every effort has been made to come with an evolution guide to help trainers know how much candy each Pokémon needs and what evolution item is needed to make your Kanto Pokémon evolve but how can you get these special items. It should be kept in mind that the trainers can visit PokéStops in hopes to get an evolution item. However, reports are coming in that the evolution items in Pokémon Go are very rare.

A report while talking about the development has this to say, “For those counting Gen 2 Pokémon on their fingers, 80 seems to be leaving a few out, given that there are 100 in new Pokémon added in Gold/Silver. Eight are babies, and six are legendary/mythic, so that leaves 86, and it’s unclear where the last few may be hiding…Needless to say the Pokémon GO community is buzzing about this new update, but there’s still a lot to learn. It’s unclear what the new mechanics and items are that are being added to the game, and there’s no exhaustive list of which Gen 2 Pokémon are arriving yet. There’s also no firm launch date, but again, early leaks said Saturday, the 18th, and the announcement does say by the end of the week, so look for it around then”
