Karachi: After chaiwala hogging the limelight in the Pakistani media, it is time for a Parathay wala to get into focus. While the blue-eyed chaiwala has gone back to his chai-ki-dukaan after a short stint in films and modeling, the Parathay wala is set to join Pakistan’s T20 squad against Malaysia.
The 19-year old Quetta Bears’ player, who is currently working at a local hotel in Karachi, has reportedly been called for the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) team to play two T20 matches against Malaysian cricket team starting January 14 at Gadhafi Stadium, Lahore. There is no denying that it is a very important step in the budding cricketer’s dream to making it to Pakistan national cricket team.
Hanan, who besides being a promising left-handed batsman, makes excellent parathas at a local hotel in Karachi, has been called to represent NCA XI against the visiting Malaysian team.
He is overjoyed with the news and says he first thought the call to be prank. So just to check the authenticity of the call from Paksitani cricket board he called them back. “I am really happy to get this chance…When the first telephone call came from Lahore, I was playing a match. Later I called back and was informed about my selection,” he says.
While explaining his overwhelming jubilation, he said, “I wasn’t sure if it was a genuine call or not, so I called back again and confirmed my selection for the two T20’s.” The 19-year-old has been representing Quetta in the domestic grade-2 matches, while he was also selected by Quetta Gladiators during their talent hunt in Quetta.
The 19 year batsman who hails form Chaman area of Balochistan, said: “I belong to a region where cricket is not played much but still the selectors come and watch the players while playing and select them.” Talking about his carrier path, he said that initially he was selected by Gladiators and now he has become part of the NCA team. He was optimistic that one day he will be a part of Pakistan’s national team. He said, “This is how step by step I will reach the national team and will represent Pakistan one day through my performance.” (Source: Dawn.com)
