Malegaon: On 8th September 2006, Malegaon town in Nasik district of Maharashtra was rattled by serial blasts. The blasts that targeted the Bada Qabristan area of the communally sensitive town killed at least 38 people and injured more than 200 people.
Ten years have passed since then, but the memories of the killer blasts still resonate in the minds of the people here. See the travesty of justice, the people who had gone to offer prayers were not just arrested for the blasts, they were forced to stay in prisons for some seven years. they were allegedly tortured badly by police and are still haunted.
While Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind and some local organizations worked hard and ensured clean chit to the nine Muslim youth who were wrongfully arrested, these people are still to be given justice. This is the reason that on the tenth anniversary of the serial Malegaon bomb blasts, the officials of the All Party Alliance met the ASP of the city police and presented a three-page long memorandum to hum.
The delegation asked the government to pay at least Rs fifty lakh compensation and government jobs to all such youth who had to suffer for seven long years. The delegation told Rakesh Ola that though the court has cleared the youth and released them honorably, how they can forget the seven long years that they spend behind prison walls without committing any crime.
The members of delegation told the police official that the arrest and their incarceration has tarnished their image in the society and despite being honorably released it has become a black spot for such people. The delegation also asked the official to ensure that the police officials who wrongfully implicated these people are seriously punished. (Urdu Times, Mumbai)
