Fresno- Obdulia Sanchez, who is hogging limelight for all the wrong reasons for the last several days, is accused of killing her own sister in a car crash. The 18-year old girl, who live-streamed the entire incident on Instagram has been arrested and remains behind bars.
The incident whose footage went viral within hours of the incident as it was saved by a woman watching the livestreaming and then shared on social media, shows the girl after the car crash that killed her 14-year old sister Jacqueline Sanchez. Another teenaged girl, who luckily survived the crash, is still in the hospital, though without life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, Obdulia Sanchez father Nicandro Sanchez has called the incident “an accident”. While talking to KFSN the grief stricken father whose one daughter is dead, while another one is behind bars said he has seen the video. “It’s an accident…It happened that way. Who knows why”, the senior Sanchez is reported to have told the television station.
The aggrieved father told the television station, “What I think, she knows she’s done something wrong. Because she knows, and that’s what I feel. She feels bad, but she still killed her own sister”.
Meanwhile, the girl who was with the two sisters in the car and who survived the crash has said that she doesn’t blame Obdulia for the crash. She went on to describe the 14-year old Jacqueline as a dear friend whom she called brave and smart.
The girl, who has been identified as Manuela Seja said, “Honestly, I’m not mad at anybody and I don’t blame anybody”.
The 18-year old Obdulia Sanches has been arrested and sent to the Merced County Jail on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according.
Officials claim that the teen was driving a 2003 Buick this past Friday when the car veered onto the shoulder of a road northwest of Fresno. The panicked girl overcorrected, causing the car to swerve across lanes, barrel into a wire fence and overturn into a field.
Her younger sister and her friend, who have been confirmed to be not wearing seat belts in the backseat, reportedly ejected from the car with the forceful impact of the crash. The driver’s 14 year old sister was killed on the spot, while Seja survived with a leg injury.
In the meantime, there is an online campaign demanding authorities to free Obdulia Sanches. A group, “Free Obdulia Sanchez’ has been formed on social media platform Facebook. Within the last three days, the group has been grown to more than 7600 members.
