Finally, the Mahgathbandhan is gone. Nitish Kumar, the hero of upper caste middle classes has gone back to the place he spent most of his time. Nitish’s decision also proves that the mahagathbandhan was just an alliance of convenience and that is bound to fail. It is time for political class to understand that to fight against fascist onslaught on the country, they need ideological allies and not that of the opportunists. Shankar Singh Vaghela has already gone back. There are many saffronites in the Congress and they will damage the party at the eleventh hour. Nitish was a doubtful person from the very beginning.
But to blame Nitish Kumar for the entire fiasco would be underestimating the heavy damage that Lalu has done. There is no doubt that Lalu Yadav is a charismatic leader and his conviction to secularism stand but there is also no doubt that Lalu has taken politics to a new low, the family business.
There were so many leaders in his party who he could have promoted. There was nothing wrong in making his son as minister but he wanted to elevate every one of them. He did the damage by appointing Rabari and the same happened now. While we know that Modi government wanted to break this alliance at any cost, it is also important for the so called secular parties to come out clean on the issue.
2019 is already looking depressed. We had said many times in the past that Nitish kind of people are highly untrustworthy. You don’t know when will they take away Mulayam Singh Yadav as well. The Samajwadis have this problem of anti-Congressism and they are still suffering from that.
The clean up operation in the opposition must start now. If Congress or BSP or Samajwadi Party or TMC want to start an alliance, they must first be committed to the cause of secularism, social justice and other important issues. Will they rise up to the occasion now.
Nitish Kumar has betrayed the secular cause. He has betrayed the cause of social justice. I had never had any faith in his demagoguery as I knew he would ditch one day. It is a sad day how over ambitious politicians as well as those who cant look beyond their families have ruined the future of India. How are they playing the games with the sentiments of the people.
It is serious time for all the political parties. The first should for the Congress to take initiative. Congress-BSP need to work more close now for all practical purposes. Lalu too have to work harder and allow the children to grow. Charges of corruption against him may be fabricated but he has to come out clean on that. The ‘putramoh’ has damaged the unity but we hope that in the greater interest he will continue to strengthen the secular-social justice cause.
Can Congress-BSP-SP-TMC-DMK come together on the cause of secularism and social justice. I have no faith in Sharad Pawar who has been playing multiple games. Question is not that how are these parties. Politics depend on pragmatic ideas to come to power to save the country from further chaos and anarchy. We hope the opposition parties will work serious ponder over the fact that the country need strong opposition. If they dont work closely and jointly then the situation beyond 2019 would be very bleak and they would decimated which will only bring India closer to the Sangh Parivar’s dream which they first saw in 1925.
