On the beginning of the NFL year, football fans were expecting lots of action on NFL free agency front and they were not really disappointed.
Many people want to know the fate of Chicago’s Jay Cutler. The team has been more than eager to get rid of him at the earliest. Despite performing exceptionally well on several occasions in the past, his performance has left many people disappointed. And this is the reason that the team wants a good replacement for him.
Chairman George McCaskey while talking about Cutler, said, “His ability, toughness, and intelligence were on daily display at Halas Hall and Soldier Field. He had an extraordinary impact off the field, doing things for people, especially kids, without expecting or wanting any recognition,” Chairman George McCaskey said. “I was and am a big fan of his.”
If you were eager to get an update about Buccaneers and Eagles, the two seem to be ready with their plans long before other teams were prepared for it. Both the teams probably wanted a talented and dangerous receiver for them and they got what they were planning to get.
Tampa Bay successfully got hold of DeSean Jackson to team with Mike Evans as targets for Jameis Winston. There is no denying that he is a great acquisition for Tampa Bay. He played college football for the University of California, Berkeley, where he was recognized as a consensus All-American. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Jackson has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times, and was the first player selected to the Pro Bowl at two different positions in the same year when he was named to the 2010 Pro Bowl as a wide receiver and return specialist.
He is very talented and is one of five players since the 1970 merger with 26 or more career touchdowns of 50-plus yards. Only Hall of Famer Jerry Rice (23) has more than Jackson’s 22 touchdowns of 60-plus yards.
Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter while praising Jackson had this to say, “DeSean is exactly the type of dynamic playmaker we have been targeting for our offense…DeSean brings a veteran presence and a big-play mentality that fits in perfectly with our offensive philosophy. He is a tough-minded competitor who has the game-breaking speed and pass-catching ability that stretches the defense and creates matchup problems.” The Buccaneers also added defensive tackle Chris Baker.
