Parbhani: Following the Maratha agitation in Maharashtra for reservation in jobs and education in the state, Muslims have also decided to organize agitation to demand reservation. The community that makes around ten percent of the state population seems to have woken to the necessity of reservation for progress of the community.
Former Minister in the Congress government in the state and MLA Muhammad Arif Naseem Khan accused the Devendra Fadnavis led BJP government in Maharashtra of trying to discriminate against the Muslims for communal reasons. While addressing a public meeting here in Parbhani, the ex minister said that Muslims are being wrongly deprived of what is their due.
He said that the present government in the state wants to deprive the community from benefits of reservation due to the sole reason that it doesn’t want them to prosper. He said that the BJP government is not implementing previous government’s proposal for Muslim reservation despite the High Court giving its nod in this regard.
He said that “notwithstanding the fact that High Court turned down the reservation for Maratha community, the state government is all game for it. When the millions of Marathas came onto the streets, it forced the Fadnavis government on its knees and the Chief Minister was forced to assure the community of providing reservation to it, even at the cost of his chief ministerial chair”. He added that Muslims should also show the same sort of unity in order to achieve the goal. (Urdu Times, Mumbai)
