Lucknow; All India Muslim Women personal law Board, a rather unknown forum of some progressive Muslim women has attacked the All India Personal Law Board (AIMPB) for its affidavit in Supreme Court in support of triple talaq.
The issue of Muslim personal law that is being hotly debated across the country is in Supreme Court and the AIMPLB has filed its response against the petition in the apex court. The All India Muslim personal law Board in its affidavit had posed a question as to what is better, divorce or killing of wife by husband. It had also said that men who have more patience compared to women are better suited to decide an important subject like divorce.
The members of Muslim Women Law Board have said that the stand of AIMPLB is regressive and misogynist.
While talking on the issue, Women law board chief Shaista Anbar said, “AIMPLB is resorting to such gimmick for its complete failure in implementing social reform and making the shariah courts effective”. She said that she will also approach the apex court in this regard and will ask the court to be made a party in this case. She said that her law board wants to challenge the provisions of triple talaq and lack of maintenance. (Translated from Inquilab)
