New Delhi: All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, a federation of small Muslim organisations in India, has questioned the negligence and carelessness of All India Muslim Personal Law Board regarding the ongoing case on triple talaqin Supreme Court.
Mushawarat, considering the affidavit on triple talaq, halaalah and polygamy by AIMPLB as weak and incompetent, had issued a questionnaire containing eight key questions on October 4, 2016. The eight questions were addressed to Maulana Syed Muhammad Rabey Hasani Nadvi. The whole letter including the questions was published in Mushawarat’s quarterly issue of December 2016. Mushawarat never got a response.
But now when the Supreme Court was holding hearings on the triple talaq case, the intelligibility of those very questions is dawning, and sinking deep.
The text began with the address, “With regard to the recent suo moto petition of Supreme Court”. It was titled, “Consultation regarding the interference by legal courts and government into matters relating to Shariah”.
Mushawarat formed a committee with Maulana Hafiz Syed Athar Ali as its convener. The members of the committee were Mushawarat Chief Nawed Hamid, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Nusrat Ali, General Secretary of Jamiat Ahle-Hadeeth Maulana Asghar Imam Mehdi Salfi, Director of Iqra Education Foundation Dr. Uzma Naheed and Maulana Hafiz Syed Azhar Ali.
After studying the affidavit that the AIMPLB had submitted to the Supreme Court, the committee expressed its opinion on that. Then it had kept its eight points before the AIMPLB. The points were submitted to Maulana Syed Muhammad Rabey Hasani Nadvi, the president of AIMPLB. According to sources in Lucknow, he had forwarded the correspondence to General Secretary of AIMPLB Maulana Wali Rahmani. Maulana Rahmani also looked after the legal matters. But there was no response from Maulana Rahmani.
