Michael Reilly fired by Tampa Bay Rays after video alleges sex abuse: Photos
Michael Reilly has reportedly been fired by the Tampa Bay Rays. The physician who has been part of Rays for a rather very long time has been fired following appearance of a video posted on YouTube that alleges sexual abuse of young woman. There are reports doing the rounds that the young woman in question worked for him almost ten years ago.
The team took action against the teah physician as soon as the allegations appeared. With his sudden ouster, many people are wondering if the Tampa Bay Rays were actually awaiting a reason to sack him. The woman who was only 16 at the time of the encounter is 26 years of age.
As soon as the reports came, the Rays severed ties with physician and notified Major League Baseball and St. Petersburg police about the allegations in the video.
The announcement was made by the Rays’ general counsel John Higgins.
Meanwhile the physician has refused allegations saying there was no truth in it. In a statement issued by attorney Cathleen Bell Bremmer he said he was “deeply troubled” by them and called the tarnishing of his reputation “disturbing.” He said he had a relationship with the woman when she was an adult.
In the meantime, a report in The Tampa Bay Times said that he also resigned from his post at St. Petersburg Catholic High School when school officials contacted him about the video.
Meanwhile more details have emerged about the video. The footage which is 10-plus minutes long and is titled “The Importance Of Sharing My Story Of Sexual Abuse,” was posted under the name Brianna Rah.
The woman who has alleged sexual assault wrote “I know he’s done this to other people…I’ve debated making a video for years. I finally thought if I have to put my face out there, if it’s going to save another person from being sexually abused from this person, then so be it.”
