Nanded, Maharashtra: Renowned scholar and a Congress member of Parliament, Maulana Asrarulhaq Qasmi expressed concern over the current condition of the country while talking to the media during his tour of Nanded.
Maulana said, “In our country these days a particular point of view is being propagated. Those trying to change this secular country into a Hindu nation are greatly harming the country. This effort can break the country apart. To keep the communal forces from harming our country, all secular parties need to unite.
“Since the time Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have come to power at the center, communal forces have become very bold. The saffron goons are spreading violence in the name of saving cows. Saffron organisations are playing with law and order in the country openly. And the government has turned into a deaf spectator of all this violence. If this extremism is not stopped in time then no one can stop the country from drowning in unrest.”
On the continuous success of Modi he said, “This is happening because hatred between different communities, especially Muslims is being spread. Muslims themselves are widening the gap between themselves and their fellow countrymen. We did not find it important to make them aware about ourselves and now the extremists are taking advantage of this fact and spreading misunderstanding among different communities.”
Criticizing the laziness of opposition parties, he said, “The current condition of the country demands that all opposition parties unite and face BJP. But the opposition parties are busy finding faults with each other and are not ready to be farsighted enough to work towards unity to solve the bigger problem.”
Speaking about the efforts by the central government to change the Muslim Personal Law, he said, “The things that are being said about triple talaq are the inner and social matter of Muslims. The need of the moment is awareness about Sharia among Muslims. The religious and social organisations of the Muslims are doing this job now. The government or the law need not take a separate decision regarding this internal matter. They should not interfere, because the constitution allows all citizen to practice their religion freely. The government and law should follow the constitution.”
