Viewsheadlines Desk,

The city had a peaceful Friday despite rumours. The weekly markets saw normal business proceedings. The eastern and western sections of the city saw large numbers of security forces around temples and mosques .

On February 13th, two minority members, Sheikh Farid AND Sheikh Farooque, were transporting cattle on Manmad Road, when they were attacked by Gauakshaks (cow vigilantes).

Then on February 14, 2017, in Jalgaon, near Malegaon, some motorcycle riders attacked Machchinder Shirke, local VHP unit chief and a gaurakshak.

Bajrang Dal and VHP activists retaliated by going on rampage on Wednesday in which several youths were injured.

Communal tension was expected on Friday following these incidences of violence, but Friday passed by peacefully.  The strictest laws are in Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, where the slaughter of cow and its progeny, including bulls and bullocks of all ages, is completely banned. Most States prohibit the slaughter of cows of all ages. Nonetheless, cow slaughter is allowed in several states including West Bengal. (Inquilab)
