Malayalam actress abduction –Director Priyadarshan says she was not raped

ViewsHeadlines Desk,

Kochi: A close friend of a top Malayalam actress, who was abducted two days ago in her car in Kochi, has said that she was not raped. In the last couple of days the media has been claiming that the award winning actress who has appeared in more than 70 Malayalam movies, besides many Tamil and Telgu movies, was not just abducted but also raped.

Till now, three accused have been arrested as Kerala Chief Minister has said that he will make all out efforts to ensure exemplary punishment to the gang of men who waylaid her card and abducted her.

In the meantime, director Priyadarshan, who is reportedly very close to the actress has said that there was no rape involved and that the criminals made her video in nude to blackmail her later.

The director said that he couldn’t come out of the shock and feels still hard to believe that it happened so close to his home and to someone who is very near and dear to him.

Police reports have suggested that the award-winning actress was abducted on the way from Thrissur to Kochi on Friday and molested allegedly by a seven-member gang. It is now confirmed that the criminals also took pictures and videos to blackmail her. The director said he has spoken to the actor who said she wasn’t raped but was harassed by her former driver and his accomplice.

Priyadarshan said that he talked to the star actress and was told that she was not raped. “First of all, she was not raped. How can something so grave and evil be trivialised by wrong reportage? I spoke to her after the awful incident and she very clearly told me she was NOT raped. Yes, she was abducted apparently by her former driver and his friends, who has already been arrested thanks to the swift intervention and action of the cop-in-charge. They forced themselves into her car, stripped her and took pictures apparently with the intention of demeaning and blackmailing her,” he went on to add.

He told the media that “It is shocking and unbelievable that this could happen in Kochi. Here it is a very tightly-knit community. Everyone knows everyone else. So, no one does anything that would bring shame to the person and community. I know her very well. She is bubbly, chirpy, friendly, warm and innocent and she’s very popular in the Malayalam film industry”.
