Washington: A CNN report claims that President Donald Trump is all set to deliver a speech in Detroit, Michigan. Though it will not be a campaign style rally, the President is sure to express his anger at the MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show. Rachal Maddow made an impossibly looking task possible.
She showed two papers claiming that she had his tax returns details for the year 2005. This forced the White House to pre-empt her and release his tax returns for the period even before the episode was telecast on the MSNBC.
A report in The Daily Beast says, “The documents show Trump and his wife Melania paying $5.3 million in regular federal income tax—a rate of less than 4% However, the Trumps paid an additional $31 million in the so-called ‘alternative minimum tax,’or AMT. Trump has previously called for the elimination of this tax.”
Meanwhile a report in the Detroit Free Press says, the President “is planning to announce that the U.S. Environmental Protection agency will restart a review process for tougher fuel-economy standards, a move that has been applauded by U.S. automakers. You can watch the speech live in the player above, beginning around 2 p.m. ET…The president has invited top executives from 13 automotive manufacturers, suppliers and unions. Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, GM CEO Mary Barra, Toyota President of North America Jim Lentz and UAW President Dennis Williams are among those expected to be at the event, according to to several people familiar with the event. U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt are also planning to attend with the president”.
While the broad agenda is known, people are unsure as to what Trump will actually speak during the speech. Nonetheless, as it will be his first speech after tax episode, he is expected to be unusually fiery. It is also the first time that he will be publicly speaking after accusing former President Barack Obama of wiretapping at Trump Tower.
