Pittsburgh: In a freak incident of sorts a 21-year-old student of Carlow University lost her life. Reports suggest that the woman was ‘train hopping’ when the incident happened. She was accompanied by one of her male friends, who survived with a few broken bones.
Reports suggest that Lindsey Marie Michaels was hit by the train, she was dragged by the goods train for a considerable distance. Her male friend who was also hit by the same train in Pittsburgh survived with a broken ankle as he was not dragged by the train unlike Lindsey Marie Michaels.
The woman was pronounced dead even before being taken to any hospital. The incident that happened on Sunday morning has shocked her family and friends. Her friends claim that
Authorities claim that the two people were actually “train hopping” when they both fell. The company that runs the train service, Norfolk Southern, in a statement said that the crew didn’t see anyone trying to jump on it or know that anyone had been hit.
The woman’s family and friends are mourning the death of the bright young woman. The University in a statement said: “The Carlow University community extends its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Carlow junior Lindsey Michaels, who died last night in a tragic accident on the South Side. We mourn her loss. Information about a memorial service on campus will be forthcoming. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones. Please keep them in your prayers during this very difficult time.”
Marissa Kearney, one of Mindsey’s friends while mournign her death says, “I was hoping I would wake up today and this would all just be a horrible nightmare. Honestly at a loss for words. You made such a positive impact on so many lives. I’m thankful for all the good memories we’ve shared. We will never stop missing you Linds. Rest in peace, beautiful angel? Lindsey Michaels”.
Another friend of the woman, Kristen Quinn, says, “I am at a loss for words right now. I got the chance to work with this beautiful and smart girl at Home Depot and I adored talking to her every chance I got. I’m so sorry to see you go girl, and I will miss you dearly! Xoxoxo Lindsey Michaels”.
