Reports suggest that as many as 156 people including women, girls and their parents gave statements during seven days of the sentencing hearing in Lansing, MI.
While talking to the media Prosecutor Angela Povilaitis said, “These have been important narratives to hear and witness and listen to…They will be the words that burn down cultural stereotypes and cultural myths. [Nassar] is possibly the most prolific child abuser in history.” According to court documents Stefanie Nassar filed for divorce on January 25.
Nassar lived in Holt and said before his arrrest that he came there to raise his children there. “We are strong believers in public education. For the last twenty years, I have served as the volunteer team physician for Holt Athletics and continue to love working with our coaches and athletes…I volunteer my time in this way because I believe that our community is stronger when we are engaged and involved in helping our neighbors”, the disgraced doctor said on his Facebook page.
