Mumbai: All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi is working hard to expand his Hyderabad based party to other parts of the country. Two major targets of the Lok Sabha MP and firebrand speaker are Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

His party is working hard to gain the confidence of Muslim community in Mumbai and emerge as a force to reckon with in the Mumbai Corporation elections set to be held next month.

It must be kept in mind that Owaisi has toured Mumbai twice in the past ten days. His meeting in Kurla that drew a huge audience is being taken note of in political circles. Political pundits believe that if Congress party and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) don’t come together to contest BMC polls, a significant number of Muslim votes will go to Owaisi’s party.

While addressing a meeting in Kurla, the MIM president said that his sole crime is the fact that he talks of Muslims and Dalits and their empowerment in the country. “The so called Secular parties and communal parties are angry with me as I talk about the issues of Muslims and Dalits and the common people. I talk about their issues. We want school, sanitation and other basic amenities that are our basic rights” said the firebrand speaker.

Owaisi further said, “Mahmudurrahman committee says that sixty percent Muslim youth in Mumbai are unemployed. We will work towards solving this issue”. He also targeted communal elements saying, “Which way our nation is going? How a soldier manning our border had to make an appeal that he and others at the border are being ignored? Why a soldier that takes care of the border in freezing temperature has to survive on bread and lentil? While the Prime Minister takes credit for surgical strikes, why a soldier is forced to complain in such a way to be heard and taken notice. Now this whistleblower is being called schizophrenic.”
