Kendrex White has been recognized as the man who has been accused of fatally stabbing four people. The attack caused the death of one of his victims on University of Texas’ Austin Campus.
Authorities have recognized the attacker as Kendrix White, a 21-year-old student of the University of Texas. Officials said that the man, Kendrex J. White, of Killeen, accused of stabbing the four was taken into the custody at the scene itself.
Local reports suggest that the stabbings, thought to be random, actually took place at around 1:30 p.m. near the campus’s Gregory gym.
A report in the MySanAntonio said that the man accused of stabbing the four people at the University of Texas in Austin Monday, was involved with groups and organizations on campus and in high school. “Kendrex White, who as of 10 a.m. Tuesday had not been charged in the stabbings, was a member of the Black Health Professionals Organization at UT-Austin and was in the International Baccalaureate program at Killeen High School. Police said White stabbed four people on the UT-Austin campus around 1:50 p.m. Monday”, the report said.
University of Texas-Austin Police Chief David Carter while addressing a press conference said, “At this particular time we do not know. We have upwards of 25 witnesses, so this investigation is going to take a little while…His motivation, what was going through his mind, I can’t answer at this time. … It would be premature for me to indicate or suggest one thing or another at this point.”
In the meantime the victims of the attack have been identified by authorities. The victim who lost his life in the stabbing has been recognized as Harrison Brown, a 2016 graduate of Graham High School, and a student at the University of Texas. It is said that he lost his life on the scene of the stabbing itself.
A report says that the suspect, Kendrex White, is said to have used a “large, Bowie-style hunting knife” to randomly attack at least four men, University of Texas-Austin Police Chief David Carter said at a press conference. Carter said police officers responded in less than two minutes after the call of an attack came in. Carter said White “calmly walked around the Gregory Gymnasium plaza and basically attacked the four unfortunate students there.”
A Christian Post report has described the stabbing accused as friendly and calm. “Joshua Anderson, a University of Texas student who had classes with White, said that White is “very friendly and talkative.” Anderson also shared that White had been missing classes lately. When he asked him about it the previous week, White reportedly said that he had some things going on in his life and “that he had to put academics on the back burner for a bit”” The Christian Post said.
