Kailee Jo McMullen’s death has shocked almost everyone. The 22-year old girl who dreamt of becoming a firefighter was reportedly shot dead by none other than her father, 43-year old Ronald McMullen.
While the reason behind the shooting is not clear, authorities have arrested the man for first degree murder in connection with the death of his own daughter.
Authorities claim that the Norman, Oklahoma resident died at home from a gunshot wound to the head. Reports claim that Ronald looked bloodied when the police arrived at the scene. Officials claim that the police responded at about 5:45 a.m. June 29 to a reported shooting at a residence in the 1700 block of Abe Martin Drive, Norman. “Upon arrival, officers found Kailee suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene,” reported The Norman Transcript.
The suspect was not arrested until July 5. Nonetheless he was taken into custody on Wednesday after an investigation into the woman’s suspicious death. Detailed accounts of the incident suggest that McMullen was booked into the Cleveland County jail on a murder complaint. The case remains under investigation, although police do not anticipate any further arrests.
Her Facebook profile said that the woman worked at CSL Plasma and Petsmart and was a former server at Legends Steakhouse. She attended Norman High School North and lived in Norman, Oklahoma, where she was from.
An obituary condoling her death says, “At age eight Kailee joined Oklahoma Twisters All Stars cheerleading and soon discovered that she had a natural talent for the sport. She traveled all over the country, competing at cheer competitions including Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando, Fla.”.
A report in KFOR says, “When asked what happened, the affidavit states that McMullen gave officers a blank stare and told them that he didn’t know where the gun was…It was clear to them that Kailee and the gun had been moved prior to their arrival…The report states that an officer went into the kitchen and discovered towels that had been used in an attempt to clean up the blood…As officers were taking photos of McMullen, the report states that he “kept trying to wipe off the blood all over him with a towel.”
