JetBlue is facing severe criticism from travelers for throwing out a family for merely trying to take a birthday cake with them to Las Vegas. The family was going to the city to celebrate the birthday of the woman of the family.
But the whole plan turned upside down on a futile argument by one of the JetBlue flight attendants. Despite the airport security giving a clean chit to the family, all the passengers were deplaned and then boarded again, of course except the family.
The family was travelling with two toddlers, and the kids too felt immensely harassed. They can be seen asking multiple questions showing their fears and anxieties.
The incident that took place earlier this month only came to the light when a video of the incident was uploaded on Youtube and social media. Jersey City’s Cameron Burke, his wife and their two kids were thrown off a jet due to leave New York City’s John F. Kennedy airport. The dispute was merely about where to keep the case. The family says that the attendant asked them to keep the cake on the floor just in front of their seat and they complied with it. Burke’s wife was turning 40 and the husband had given her a surprise by planning this birthday party.
Minta Burke, Cameron’s wife and mother of their two children was quoted by ABC7NY as saying, “We were just so happy, couldn’t wait to get to Las Vegas…And all of a sudden, this occurred, and my two children are screaming, crying. They’re confused, not knowing what’s going on. They were traumatized.”
Cameron says he was surprised by the flight attendant’s attitude. “You know, you could see the gestures, then she was pointing to her, ‘did you tell him he couldn’t put anything in the overhead compartment?…I had approached them, and I said everything was fine. And she said, ‘Sir, this does not involve you.’ When she told me I had been non-compliant, then I said, ‘Ma’am, had you been drinking?’ Because her behavior was not normal.”
