New Delhi: Political parties in Tamil Nadu are multiplying so fast that it has already started giving tough time to political analysts. Former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar had recently launched her political party of her own and had expressed her desire to fight election from Jayalalithaa’s vacant seat.
Now there is another surprise in store for common folks and political analysts alike. Deepa Jayakumar’s husband who was present during the press conference called to launch the new party, has shocked everyone. He has announced the launch of his own party saying that while he has no difference with his wife, her outfit was being targeted by many evil forces.
No one has any idea as to whom he was calling evil, while announcing the launch of his own party.
Deepa Kumar’s party was named “MGR Amma Deepa Peravai” as the party was launched on the 69th birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa. Deepa’s husband K. Madhavan has announced he would quit the political outfit and start his own party.
A report in the Hindustan Times says that “Madhavan, who had been involved in the formation of the party, said it could not function independently due to some “evil forces”, which had taken over the outfit and hence, he decided to launch a party and work on his own. He, however, said he had no differences with Deepa. Madhavan made this announcement after paying homage at Jayalalithaa’s memorial. He is expected to announce the name of his party soon”.
The way people are paying their respect before Jayalalithaa’s memorial before every important occasion, there are signs that she may become the reigning deity of the state or at least a major section of the population there.
Meanwhile, 43 year old Deepa is the daughter of Jayalalithaa’s younger brother of Jayalalitha. The family used to live in Jayalalitha home Poes Garden. In 1995, Jayakumar left Poes Garden with his family. He died soon after. After completing graduation, Deepa did a diploma course on Mass Communication from London. Her first job was with The New Indian Express. She again returned back to London where she got married to Madhvan and settled there. It is strange that Deepa has not cordial relation with her brother Deepak Jayakumar. It may be due to her marriage with Madhavan, who is a Christian by faith. Little is known about her husband.
