If reports are to be believed, actor and comedian Jay Tomas is dead at 69. He was suffering from cancer and the killer disease reportedly caused his death.
Jay Thomas whose real name was Jon Thomas Terrell will be remembered for his significant roles in ‘Murphy Brown’, ‘Cheers’, ‘Mork & Mindy’ and ‘Ray Donovan’.
While initially many people thought the news to be a baseless rumor, but the report had to be believed when his agent, Don Buchwald, confirmed the news.
In a statement released to the media Buchwald said, “Jay was one of a kind, never at a loss for words and filled with so much fun and wonderfully whacky thoughts and behavior.”
Jay got his first significant break in late seventies when he co-starred role as Remo DaVinci on Mork & Mindy in 1979. The next big assignment came when he was offered the role of Eddie LeBec on Cheers 1987–88 and then bagged the lead character Jack Stein on Love & War.
Another important opportunity came his way when in 1997, he starred in the television film Killing Mr. Griffin, based on the novel of the same name. in the year 2005 Jay hosted The Jay Thomas Show on Sirius Satellite Radio, and was on every Friday afternoon on Howard 101.
Thomas was married to Sally Michelson. The two got married in the year 1987and have two children together Jacob Thomas, Samuel Thomas. He also has another son, J.T. Harding.
