Mumbai: Maulana Nadeem Siddique of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra has said that the organisation legally supports the trial of innocent Muslim youth implicated in different baseless criminal cases. He expressed his and his organization’s resolve to continue supporting such youth.
Basheer Sheikh was an employee f the Department of Food and was put on trial on the charges of corruption in 2015. Nasik special court has stayed charges. The court has completed the hearing on the case. Jamiat Ulama has agreed to give legal support to Basheer Sheikh on the request of his relatives.
Jamiat Ulama has always provided legal support and aid to Muslims who are falsely accused and are undergoing trials or languishing in different jails across the country. On the behest of the relatives of Sheikh, Jamiat Ulama has again stood up for such hapless people and has agreed to provide legal aid to Basheer Sheikh for his trial on corruption charges.
Basheer Sheikh was accused of associating and helping infamous gangster Ghodpode in the corruption in Department of Food.
Since the first day of trial, the Jamiat Ulama advocates have been representing Basheer.
Maulana Siddiqui said that the Jamiat Ulama advocates representing Basheer have worked hard to gather evidence of his innocence and will present them before the court. He expressed his confidence that the court would find the evidences convincing and Basheer would be found not guilty of the charges against him and released.
Jamiat Ulama Legal Cell Secretary Advocate Thood Khan’s legal aid Ateeq Iqbal stated that Basheer Sheikh did not have to do anything with the corruption in the Department. The police had arrested a whole group of employees regarding the corruption case and Basheer Sheikh happened to be unfortunately there and so he was also arrested.
The biggest socio-religious organization in India is also fighting the cases of dozens of innocent people who have been falsely implicated in terror related cases across the country. (Translated from Urdu Times)
