“Keep your thoughts cleaner than a drop of water because drops of water form the ocean and thoughts form the personality, said Hazrat Ali”
Imam Ali is the kind of personality who has made our history fragrant and the fragrance of his personality still perfumes our life.
Hazrat Ali was a first cousin of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and also his son in law. He was married to Fatima Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet. He was father of Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain, the grandsons of Prophet Muhammad.
All the series of knowledge went through his thought process and this made him acquire an exceptional amount of knowledge and he reached a level of spirituality that has imprinted his name in the annals of history like a gem. He has been addressed as “the door of knowledge” in Hadith. Anyone who wants to acquire wisdom and knowledge needs to pass through this door.
In this way everyone is dependent on him for knowledge while he is everyone’s friend in their efforts to access knowledge.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once said, “I am the city of knowledge and Ali is it’s door.”
His personality also reminds one that no one becomes great just by his great ancestry. What is required instead, is deep knowledge, wisdom and insight. Though the status of Imam Ali as a close relative of Prophet Muhammad is very big but his personal traits are exemplary and make him stand out. The reason of his exceptional personality and unparalleled command on knowledge is that he gleaned knowledge under the direct supervision of Prophet Muhammad himself.
It was not simply a coincidence that Imam Ali was such a great scholar. Prophet Muhammad juxtaposed the two major facts – that Imam Ali is his close relative and that he had the potential. So he made Ali an example of how greatness is achieved – through knowledge, spirituality, wisdom and insight, and not merely by the blood that runs in him.
Do for this life as if you live forever, do for the afterlife as if you die tomorrow.

To make one good action succeed another, is the perfection of goodness.
Let me alone, and go in search of someone else.
If you overpower your enemy, then pardon him by way of thankfulness to Allah, for being able to subdue him.
He who has a thousand friends has not a friend to spare, And he who has one enemy will meet him everywhere.
