New Delhi: While the BJP has successfully installed its governmnet in Goa, despite being a laggard with just 13 seats in the house of 40, the stain is not going to be cleansed anytime soon.
This was amply clear as opposition MPs attacked government in Rajya Sabha. The Upper House was adjourned till 12 noon on Friday after Congress members created a ruckus over the role of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha in formation of the new government in the state.
Later the house met for the day, Congress member Digvijay Singh raised the issue and demanded a discussion on the role of the Governor. Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien said role of the Governor can be discussed only after a substantive notice is given. Soon after, the Congress members trooped near the Chairman’s podium and shouted slogans like “Murder of democracy won’t be allowed”. As the din continued, Kurien adjourned the house till 12 noon.
Opposition is calling the installation of the BJP government in Goa as murder of the democracy. Despite Congress being the single largest party, the Governor invited BJP-led by former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to form the government. Parrikar on Thursday won the trust vote in Goa assembly. But Congress should blame no one but itself as it slept as the results were announced.
