NEW YORK – A New York couple who died in mysterious circumstances, had apparently committed suicide. Authorities claim that the two were facing severe financial troubles and thus took the extreme step.
Officials have confirmed, that the couple, in order to get rid of the issue decided to commit suicide. The two jumped from the window of his office building on the ninth floor at Madison Avenue.
Reports suggest that 53-year old chiropractor Glenn Scarpelli and his wife 50-year old Patricia Colant, died on the spot.
The two were discovered dead and a suicide note talks in detail about the reason behind their decision to take the extreme step. Both had reportedly penned down a separate suicide note that enumerated their financial woes. Nonetheless, Chief of detectives Robert Boyce said the source of their money problems wasn’t clear, and police were looking into it.
The couple’s suicide note read that the pair had “everything in life.” It continued to talk about their “financial spiral” while saying “we can not live with the financial reality.” The note also said, to the effect, according to the Post, “We both have medical issues, we just can’t afford the health care.”
Daily Mail, while quoting an employee at the nearby Pure Green, named Perry Kim, said that he heard a screaming sound at around 5:30 a.m. The Mail report says that the couple landed face-up. Perry Kim said that it was his manager who called 911. A woman named Kazi, who works at a nearby convenience store, told the Post that, “When I got here at 6:05 a.m., I walked by dead bodies on the ground. I was scared. I’ve never seen dead bodies before.” A neighbor, named only as Harry, described the suicides as “Insane.”
Reports suggest that the 53-year old man worked as a Chiropractor in the Murray Hill neighborhood, according to WINS reporter Roger Stern. The office building that the pair leaped from, located at 29 East 33rd Street is populated by doctors, chiropractors and lawyers. His wife worked as a receptionist in his husband’s practice. The couple had two children, ages 19 and 20.
