Casey Anthony’s father, George Anthony will remain in news for next couple of weeks. He will be featured prominently in Investigation Discovery’s new three-part docuseries, Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery and thus the media attention.
The father and the daughter are not on the talking terms and George Anthony says he will never talk to his daughter again. He has asked officials to arrest his daughter and put her behind bars for the rest of her life.
A report in the National Enquirer while quoting him said, “We are done because when this happened, I lost my daughter and my granddaughter. I lost them both…Justice would be to have my daughter behind bars and have her suffer the way Caylee suffered.”
The journalist who first talked to him about the entire story, Steph Watts, said “It was such a twisted tale. I remember, at the time, thinking you couldn’t make this stuff up…Both of them, Cindy and George, for the first time have come to terms with who they believe did this and how this person did this…What’s interesting is they have very different views and theories on how they believe Caylee Anthony was murdered.”
It was thanks to Casey’s parents that case came out of the closet. Deputies began searching for the 2-year-old in July 2008 after Anthony’s parents discovered their daughter’s foul-smelling car at an impound lot.
There is no denying that Casey Anthony’s father has been very harsh to her, though for obvious reasons. Six years ago, he told authorities that he thought Casey drugged Caylee to sedate her, so that she could have a night out on the town. Later, talking to a very popular Dr. Phil show, George added, “Yeah I blame my daughter for Caylee not being here today… I believe she was there and I also believe she probably had some help.”
If that was not enough, he added, “Inside of my heart, I don’t believe that Caylee drowned…I believe there’s something else that happened to her…I believe that Casey or someone else that she was with possibly gave too much [drugs] to Caylee…she fell asleep and didn’t wake up.”
Her accusations prompted Casey to claim that she was sexually abused as a child by her own father. Her lawyer, Jose Baez, claimed that Casey Anthony was sexually abused by her father as a child. Not just he, but his wife and Casey’s mother Cindy said that they were hurt by allegations. “After years of silence, Casey Anthony has once again pointed to her father as a suspect in the disappearance and death of his granddaughter, Caylee… George, who has continued to try and move forward from this tragedy and who was vindicated on multiple occasions, is once again forced to relive the hints, rumors, lies and allegations that are being made by Casey Anthony”, said his parents.
