Gabe Parker, Marshall County High School shooting suspect photos: All you need to know
Gabe Parker, a 15-year old student of the Marshall County High School is being accused to be the shooter who allegedly shot to death two fellow students and injured 14 others. The incident happened on January 23 in Benton, Kentucky.
Two 15-year old students of the school including Bailey Holt and Preston Cope lost their lives in the mindless shooting. Officials claim that the selection of the target was random and Gabe Parker sprayed with bullets whoever came his way. At least five people were in serious condition when the last reports came about the injured.
Authorities said despite the student being juvenile, he was being taken as adult and will be treated as such. Nonetheless, his identity was kept a closely guarded secret till now. A student, who received a bullet wound in her chest while writing in Twitter said that she doesn’t have any ill feeling for the shooter who inflicted severe pain to her. Gabe Parker is reported to be a tuba player in the Marshall County High School band.
In the meantime, reports suggest that the Marshall County High School reopened its doors Friday. The school day began with an assembly. It is said that the school district sent an email to parents announcing classes would resume Friday. The email told parents that they could attend the assembly with their children. Authorities are of the opinion that the accused was armed with a handgun, acted alone and the victims were selected at random.
The suspect was rather very active on social media including Facebook and Instagram. One of recent images on Instagram put up by Gabe Parker shows a picture of his tuba with the caption, “This is my tuba. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My tuba is the best friend. It is my life. I must master it was I master my life. My tuba, without me, is useless. Without my tuba, I am useless.” The 15-year old suspect calls himself to be a “proud member” of the United Church of Bacon.
There are rumors doing the rounds that the shooting may be a consequence of bullying that the shooter faced. Kimberly Mason, who calls her Parker’s stepsister says that her brother faced bullying in the school.
In her post the teenager said, “I wasn’t going to post anything, but it’s too hard not to after reading everything being posted on social media about this shooting. Gabriel Parker is my stepbrother. He is my family. I don’t care that his dad and my mother got divorced last year and I haven’t been able to see him much since then. He is my family. He isn’t a monster. He doesn’t deserve to die like I’ve seen so many people say…He is a kid who is hurting. If you knew even half of the things he was put through with his father, then you wouldn’t be saying those things. But the fact is, you don’t know Gabe. You don’t remember him as a young boy who was always laughing and who was so smart and loved chemistry”.
She went on to add, “But I do. I don’t know if he did this in retaliation to being bullied, but I’m sure if he was bullied that no one in that school did a damn thing about it. I know that no one who had the power to stand up to his father did except me and my mom. STOP BRUSHING ABUSE UNDER THE RUG. And please…If you know someone who is being abused or bullied, stand up for them! I am begging you! My heart goes out to those families who were impacted by this shooting. I cannot imagine what you are feeling. But like me, you are hurting. This isn’t easy on anyone. But, posting hateful comments on his pictures is the kind of behavior that promotes more school shootings”.
“This is sad and heartbreaking, but adults, act like adults! Stop being bullies yourselves! I hope going forward more people will stop and think about their behavior. I hope before you say that mean, unnecessary comment that you put yourselves in their shoes. I hope before you go to push someone or knock their books out of their hands that you put yourselves in their shoes…And to those who want to take their lives or the lives of others out of feeling trapped and lost, please know you aren’t alone. You are not alone. Pain can be worked through. I know as young adults situations seem impossible and out of your hands…but the time will pass quicker than you think. You can make it through” his step sister went on to add.
Officials have said that Parker will be charged with two counts of murder and multiple counts of attempted murder.
