Chennai: Gaanam Nair, a Chennai based model missing for the last four days has reportedly returned to her home. The news comes as a relief to her family, friends and well-wishers who were very upset with no trace of the petite model.
While the reason for her disappearance and then return isn’t known to many, the woman who worked as a marketing manager at a salon besides doubling as a model has all of her family and friends worried.
Reports suggest that Gaanam left her Chennai home on Friday in her two-wheeler. Since then she was unreachable as her mobile phone was switched off.
Police officials who were conducting searches to trace her have said that the woman was suffering from anxiety and depression. “She was reportedly in depression. We are investigating” police officials claim.
The part time model was very active on Facebook before she disappeared on Friday. She describes herself as a photographer and “model at times”. She lives with relatives; her father is based in Delhi and her mother died a few years ago.
Reports suggest that the woman also used pseudonym on social media. It is said that on Facebook, she used an account which identified her as Jikki Padhoo. In March, she posted a note about a lover: “A tear rolls down, from both our eyes, at the same time. My lips quivering, crying, I’m trying to prepare you, pulling myself up. But I give up the next minute. You slap me. You slap me crying, desperate, ‘Get up Gaanam, get up”.
There are reasons to believe that some personal issues might have forced her into depression. A police official was quoted by the media as saying. “We understand she had marriage related issues with her family and had some health issues as well”.
