Well-known actress Erin Moran, who was known for her role on popular television channels in the eighties is no more. The actress who became to be known for her role in the sitcom “Happy Days,” was reportedly found dead. She was 56.
TMZ says that the actress was not in her best health for sometimes and was apparently suffering from economic problems, reportedly staying in her vehicle following foreclosure of her home, was found dead by authorities.
Police claim to have received a 911 call Saturday. They were told that “an unresponsive female,” was found by some passersby. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department told the media in a press release.
The press release by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department went on to add, “Upon the arrival, it was determined that the female was Erin Marie Moran-Fleischmann. First responders determined that she was deceased and an autopsy is pending”.
Born on October 19, 1960, she started her acting career very young. She acted as Jenny Jones in the television series Daktari, which ran from 1966 to 1969. In 1968, she made her feature-film debut in How Sweet It Is! with Debbie Reynolds. She appeared in 80 Steps to Jonah (1969) and Watermelon Man and made regular appearances on The Don Rickles Show in 1972.
When she was yet to turn 14, the actress, was cast as Joanie Cunningham on the sitcom Happy Days. She played the feisty younger sister of Richie Cunningham. Erin Marie won the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress in a New Television Series for her role.
In the meantime Ron Howard, while mourning her death said, “Such sad sad news … I’ll always choose to remember you on our show making scenes better, getting laughs and lighting up TV screens”.
Ralph Malph in a tweet said, “So incredibly sad to hear about Erin,” Malph wrote. “A wonderful, sweet, caring, talented woman. I can’t really comprehend this right now.”
A CNN report says, “She had been the subject of tabloid reports that she and her husband were living in a trailer in Indiana since losing her home to foreclosure in California. While other cast members continued to act or direct, acting work dried up for Moran”.
