New York City: Eddie Murphy’s older brother, Charlie Murphy has reportedly died after his long fight with leukemia. A well-known stand-up comedian, Charlie Murphy was 57.
The news of his sudden death has shocked his fans in the US and Canada. There were reports of improvement in his health recently. A TMZ report, while quoting Charlie’s manager said that the comedian best known for his role in Chappel Show died from leukemia Wednesday morning in a hospital in New York City. reports suggest that he was undergoing treatment at the same hospital for sometimes now.
Eddie is better known than his elder brother. He was regular with Saturday Night Live and Comedy Central. When it comes to films, Eddie has received Golden Globe Award nominations for his performances in 48 Hrs., the Beverly Hills Cop series, Trading Places, and The Nutty Professor. In 2007, he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of soul singer James “Thunder” Early in Dreamgirls.
While Charlie may not be as popular as Eddie, he was a big name in himself. Born on 12 July 1959, Charlie Murphy had a distinguished career as a comedian. He was known for his stint with Comedy Central sketch comedy series Chappel’s Show. After Chappelle’s Show host Dave Chappelle left the show, Murphy and Donnell Rawlings hosted the “lost episodes” compiled from sketches produced before Chappelle’s departure.
