Four people were found dead in two different vehicles this past Thursday. The dead include two young children aged 9 and four and two women. After a few hours of the shootings and killings that took the entire town by surprise and spread a pall of gloom in several neighborhoods, police concluded that a 36 year old woman, who ran a successful photography business, was actually behind the killings.
Greenville police while detailing the sequence of events told the media that they believe the suspect, Jessica Edens, killed Meredith Leigh Rahme who she thought was having an affair with her estranged husband. She then took the life of her own two children, a 4-year old daughter with the estranged husband and a nine year old son from her previous marriage, before committing suicide by shooting herself dead too. She and her husband, Benjamin Edens, had separated earlier this year and their divorce proceeding was underway.
The 36-year old woman, Jessica reportedly lived on Creekside Way, in Easley with son, Hayden, and daughter, Harper. Both the kids were popular with the neighbors and people claim that they had very charming smile.
In the meantime, the death of 28-year old woman, Meredith Leigh Rahme, who was found shot dead inside her car at the parking garage at Main and Stone apartment is being mourned by the family and friends. One of her childhood friend’s mother, while talking about Ms Rahme told The Greenville News, “She was my daughter’s best friend…Meredith Rahme was a beautiful, smart woman.”
Authorities claim Rahme was killed around 5 p.m. Thursday in the parking garage of Main + Stone apartment complex in Greenville. They claim that around two hours later, Jessica too was found dead in her vehicle along with her two children. Police are confident Edens shot Rahme, they said.
On her Linkedin page, Rahme says that she started working at the International Paper in Tennessee in the year 2009 after graduating from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in international business. Her page further adds that she was married to Michael Nicholas Rahme. She moved to Greenville in the 2015.
In the meantime Police chief, Ken Miller in a press conference said, “We are confident that Jessica Edens shot and killed Meredith Rahme…This particular case stems from domestic related separation and subsequent conflict in that separation…It’s important to remember here that there are families and fathers who have lost young children to the senseless violence.”
The police chief further said that authorities received a report of a gunshot victim on the third floor of a parking deck at a high-rise. When police reached there, they found Rahme dead in the driver’s side seat of a white Honda. Later, following the statements from several eyewitnesses, authorities identified the suspect in the shooting as Jessica Edens. While introducing herself on her website, She said, “I was always that friend who had a camera on her 24/7! It didn’t hit me until I became a mom for the second time that I wanted to turn my passion for photography into a career”.
