New Delhi: Demonetization problem may not be over for the next several weeks. If you were expecting the problem to be over anytime soon, you were simply mistaken.
While the government has been claiming that people actually didn’t face any hardship following the demonetization, but now not just it accepted it, but suggested that it may continue for more than a month.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh while praising the step said, “Steps were taken to stop the generation of black money. Demonetisation was also criticised a lot. I accept that for some time, some people faced difficulty. It could be that the difficulties will continue for a month or a month and a half”.
He went on to add, “The decision was not taken for political mileage by the Prime Minister, but to boost India’s pride, to minimise corruption, to minimise income disparity”.
The Home Minister claimed international economists had appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise high-denomination currency. Singh didn’t name any economist who backed Prime Minister Modi in demonetization. On the contrary, there have been all round condemnations over the step that they all said ill-planned and without serious thoughts for repercussion.
