Crystal Seratte McDowell, the missing Houston realtor who was untraced since August 25 has reportedly found dead. A body found on Saturday is thought to be that of the 37-year old mother of two kids aged 8 and 5 year old.
Police have said that the body was discovered from a wooded area. The woman was missing a day before Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston area on August 26. Due to massive destruction and the large number of casualties search for her remained on the backburner. It was only when flood water receded that the search for the woman began.
In the meantime Chambers County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the woman’s body has been discovered and that her ex-husband, Steven McDowell, is being charged with murder in connection with her death.
While her uncle Jeff Walters and her boyfriend expressed their apprehensions about how she disappeared, it was only merely days ago when police officials first said they thought some foul play was involved in her death.
Her uncle who raised her along with his wife, following McDowell’s parents untimely death in a statement said, “She is a light in the heavens that can never be extinguished…She is an Angel that watches over us all with that bright smile.”
Three days ago, Brian Hawthorne, the Chambers county sheriff said, “As the Sheriff I will tell you personally think there is some wrong doing in this. I think there is a suspicious nature. I don’t think she has left on her own. I think there has been foul play at this point.”
While talking to Dateline Jeff said that when niece disappeared he contacted Crystal’s ex-husband Steven, with whom she was sharing a residence in Baytown. “He said she had sent him a message saying she was coming to pick up the kids to go to Dallas, but she didn’t show…We aren’t sure she sent those messages to him, though. She never told me of plans to go to Dallas for the storm.”
