A Texas based realtor, Crystal McDowell has reportedly been missing for the last seven days from Bayton area in Houston. A mother of two children and a very respected realtor who is loved and appreciated by the people coming to her to help them buy their newest homes, remains untraced till now.
Her boyfriend has tried to clear it that she disappeared not during the epic flooding of post Hurricane Harvey, but before the flooding.
Reports suggest that the petite, 41-year old entrepreneur went missing from Baytown area a day before Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas. The Hurricane and the subsequent flooding in its wake have caused the death of more than forty people. A large number of people remain unaccounted till now.
So while her boyfriend and uncle did everything possible to track Crystal McDowell, the search for her didn’t really begin despite all their efforts. This was due to the fact that the city administration was under immense stress during this entire duration.
Reports suggest that the woman was all set to pick up her children from her ex-husband Steven McDowell’s home on Aug. 25. The man claimed that she told him that she was driving to Dallas to ride out the storm. Nonetheless, her boyfriend says she was not expected to go there as she didn’t show any interest in leaving the two.
Despite the fact that she was set to return within a few hours with her children, Crystal McDowell never returned. Her uncle and coworker Jeff Walters reported her missing on August 26. While she remains untraced her 2013 black Mercedes Benz was found completely submerged in a Motel 6 parking lot some 13 miles from her home.
Brian Hawthorne of the Chambers County Sheriff’s office says, “She is not a victim of this storm”. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office launched a missing person investigation and posted information about the case on social media, but the department and many others in southeast Texas are overwhelmed with storm response.
Her boyfriend Hargrave and her relatives took to social media to spread the word about the missing woman. They plastered her photo, and a description of her black Mercedes, on Facebook. Later, her car was spotted partially submerged in water outside a Motel 6 in Mont Belvieu. The car was submerged in water, but the license plate was visible and a match for McDowell’s. “I immediately tried to get there, but the flood waters were just too high,” Hargrave said.
A report in PEOPLE says “Steven and Crystal divorced in June. Though they still share a home, she’s been staying less than 18 miles away, with boyfriend Paul Hargrave. He told CBS News he last heard from Crystal on the morning of Aug. 25. “She texted me to say road conditions were good around 8:30 a.m.”
In the meantime her uncle is hopeful Crystal will be found soon. “Our main objective is just to get Crystal back home…I don’t know but she’s not one to leave. And she would always be in contact with her and her children”, CBS News quoted her as saying.
